My car dies when RPMs goes down to about 0-500rpm (happens when I am coming to a stop or slowing down). Sometimes, its okay but lately its been dying at least 1-2x/day. The dealer said they wont cover it since there is an aftermarket air filter, but I have had it in for 2+ years and only now have I had this problem. Emissions light came on, tho unplugging battery got rid of it. Problem started after I cleaned the air filter, but it was fine when it was new! I thought perhaps I over-oiled the filter, and got oil on the mass air flow meter, so I cleaned it with a Qtip. Still having problems. Anyone else heard of this??

Clean your TB.. I had the same exact sit.. when ever I would engage the clutch to downshift.. my car would stall.. only happened with the aftermarker CAI. Could be a build up of oil and gunk inside the TB. You could ask the dealership to clean it (what I did) or if you go the mustang source/ Doug from bamachips wrote up how to clean the TB. I would try this and see. Good Luck

If CAI oil has built up on the MAF, then cleaning it with a Q-Tip will not remove all of the crud. You need to clean it with an aerosol can of quick drying electronic cleaner.

It is probably the oil from the filter. Seen it happen many times. If you over oil it, the oil will get on the MAF element and cause it to short out. Rarely does cleaning it make the problem go away. You'll probably need to buy a new MAF sensor and get rid of the oiled filter. There are plenty of none oiled reuseable air filters out there that will never cause this problem.
