No one in their right mind will pay sticker for an '05 Mustang either. Lipid_Sama was using sticker prices, so I did too.

I guess the GTO is the new F body. All that HP and GM can't sell them, which is why they've had to add rebates and big discounts.

GM sold only 967 GTOs in August.
From January 1 - Aug 30 they had sold only 5,551 GTOs.
Source: http://media.gm.com/

Ford sold 140,500 Mustangs in 2003 (US only, Jan - Dec) and will sell about that many 2004. Look for US sales to break 170,000 in 2005.

But you could also get X plan, which would be about 22k or 23k on comparable equipped GT.

your right, nobody in their right mind will pay sticker, unless they want one before the end of october, than they will pay 1-5k OVER STICKER.............are you forgetting how ford dealers like to RAPE their customers???

the local ford dealer here, adds 1995 to EVERY SINGLE CAR ON THE LOT, no matter what, how much it is, and or anything else... most of them you can get to drop it on, but the stang, it will be 5k over, and they will not go less than 3k, i have already been told by the internet sales manager, they had a sales meeting last week, and this is from the boss (G.M.).... UNTILL LATE OCTOBER, THEY WILL NOT SELL ONE 05 GT less than 3k over sticker, or "your looking for a new job"

bass turds!

ohh, and look for no less than 230,000 units sold in 05, ill put 5 bux on it.
(look at the 1979, 1987, 1994, and 1999 sales numbers if you think im on crack)

I know 3 people that have bought the GTO and everyone one of them loves GM dearly and wouldn't dare stray from them. However, if you get them to crack on it, each one says it wasn't worth what they payed (about 35 grand after taxes).

They only sold that few cars becasue they are heavy, don't perform and they look so plain, not to mention the stupid high price they are charging for them. GM is out of touch with it's market for that car. The car is a great engine and tranny in a big fat turd chassis. Knock 1000lbs of the chassis and $8,000-$10,000 dollars off it's price and see what happens to them. Sell like hot cakes I tell you.

Do you really think that a 2700lb car with a 350Hp engine for 20k would sell? I don think anyone in their right mind would want that. Otherwise they would make one right??

I really don't understand folks who think that because their local Ford dealership is a slimeball, that they're just doomed to be victimized and screwed. Wake up people, it's 2004. You've got the internet, hell, you've got your telephone!!! There must be a couple thousand Ford dealers in the U.S., let alone how many are probably within a 200 mile radius of most people. Not all dealers do that crap, and it's as easy as just shopping for quotes online or picking up a phone and making calls, and then having the gumption to go get your car wherever you need to get it from. No big deal. I know areas of the country (mostly rural or mountain) where dealers exist that don't even STOCK Mustangs because nobody around there wants anything but a truck. Those dealers are happy to special order anything for a couple hundred bucks over invoice. Use some flippin' moxie.

FYI - any dealer can ship any new car order to any other Ford dealer. You may have to prep the car yourself though. And don't expect the recieving dealer to do any favors for you if something should go wrong. The recieving dealer will only accept delivery of the car to his dealership. EVERYTHING else will be your responsiblity since he will get zero profit for anything he does to the car.

The closest Ford dealer to me is a complete slime ball. They are the ones who was asking $5K over sticker on Mach 1s. They pull this crap where you walk into the dealer and they hand you this big certificate that says they guarantee the lowest price anywhere. Then they turn around and try to tell you that you are lucky to buy this car for sticker price.

Fortuntately there are about 12 Ford dealers within an hour's drive from me. 6 of them are complete sleeze (some owned by the same people) 3 of them are OK and 3 of them are great to do business with.

An AAI worker posted on Brad's site that the maximum production capacity of AAI is 292,000 vehicles. BUT this is the total for both Mustangs and Mazda 6s. The current plan is to build 3 Mustangs for every M6. That would be 219,000 Mustangs, However, that # is if EVERYTHING goes perfectly, no supplier problems, no line equipment problems, no worker problems, etc. At one of the Mustang events a Ford manager told me that they figured 195,000 Mustangs would be the most they would really be able to produce per year.

Too expensive!! You know they will be marked up at least a grand as well, so we are talking $27-28K? for a base model? no thanks. Those few who brought up the GTO are correct, I would much rather pay a few K extra for a car with 100 more hp and alot more torque that will be more than capable of destroying the GT. By the way...anyone who pays sticker for a GTO is getting robbed, you can easily get them for right around $30K.

Well now that I know Ford is ripping us off, I can now go ahead and either get the GTO or an Evo. Either way...I'll be smoking the new overpriced Mustangs with ease

And nobody said you had to be stupid and pay the mark up. Wait and the prices will come down to or below sticker prices shortly.

Go check out what CJ said a comparablely equipped GT will still be several thousand bucks cheaper than a GTO. Speed is one thing but when you are trying to bring in the price...sorry my friend not going to work.

By the way...anyone who pays sticker for a GTO is getting robbed, you can easily get them for right around $30K.

You can get the CURRENT LS1 powered ones for around 30k. Guess what is going to happen when the LS2 powered ones come out. Ding ding ding...mark up! SO if we are going to use YOUR logic of them marking the prices up...
33k GTO + customary GM stealership markup of 2-3 thousand bucks bucks....
35-36 and some change. Real good bargin there and I'll bet you the mark up stays on the GTO longer than markups stay on the GT.

Well now that I know Ford is ripping us off, I can now go ahead and either get the GTO or an Evo. Either way...I'll be smoking the new overpriced Mustangs with ease

Well have fun but don't be too sad when nobody is looking at your GTO. But then again I highly doubt you'll be buying either an EVO or an LS2 GTO so....

Check the facts before you post something like this.

1. Many Pontiac dealers were asking $5K or more OVER sticker when the GTO came out. Now GM needs big rebates to sell them.

2. As of today, discounted price Stang to GTO a comparable Stang GT will still end up about $5K less expensive. $5k may be chump change to you, but to most people, that means the GTO cost 20% more.

3. Check the posts here and on Brad's site from those who have already ordered 2005 Mustangs. It appears the AVERAGE price people are paying today is around $500 over invoice (or around $1,500 UNDER MSRP). All though a few people have agreed to pay MSRP, I have not seen a single report of ANYONE who will be paying more than sticker. I know someone here has posted that his dealer is asking more than sticker, but, he is NOT buying at that price.

I would never even pay sticker price for a car.
If the dealer wants sticker (or even higher) just
wait until the price comes down. Let 'em know
with your wallet what you think of their pricing.

That being said, the $25K tag for a GT is sweet.
That means they will eventually be had for less.
Which makes the new GT a pretty good deal.

I'm glad to see $25K rather than $27K or so...
