05 with hood up

Probably not. My understanding is that the car at the show is basically going to be exactly the same as the production model. I don't see what the big deal is though. Black is a neutral color, it doesn't look bad under the hood at all.

I think it looks much worse with bright colors like torch red - it just looks unfinished to me. Seems like it would be easier just to spray the whole thing one color anyways, and cost is always a consideration. :notnice:

Those are great pics. It just looks like the engine compartment doesn't have much room for mods. I don't think there is enough room to put a K&N in front of the motor. To help straighten out the intake. Which is kind of a bummer.

That has just as much room as my Firebird RamAir. You don't use a cone filter, you use a flat filter that fits up against the functional hood scoop. Contrary to popular lore, it does make a difference at slow speeds.... but above 85 or so, it really gets eager!!

It is missing something... here is another pic:

I am not sure if somebody has posted on this before, but if you look back a couple of posts there is a great picture of a space in the middle of the underside of the hood...almost looks like the perfect place for a functional hood scoop cut out to go...

It's the perfect place for a scoop. But other than cooling the intake cover. It won't be terribly functional.

Looks like it is just itchin' for a nice K&N airbox directly in front of the intake and a RamAir hood directing air right into it. That would be delicious!!! :nice:

please dont kill me guys for my ignorance, but since its nearly the 04 mach engine anyways, how about a shaker?

It's not the 04 Mach 1 engine by a long shot. Different intake, heads, computer, etc.

A new intake design could implement a shaker-style hood, but it would take a lot of engineering work. We're more likely to see something like in the 03/04 Cobra with heat-extraction vents than we are to see a true shaker, unfortunately.
