Here is a shootout Road and Track did with some cars including a blown 05 Mustang, Ford GT and the awesome Saleen S7.

The S7 came in second with a speed of almost 206mph. The Hennessey Viper came in first, but was also smoking mosquitoes at the end of the run...lol.

They should have these compititions for the public. I think that would be awesome, have a tour where all the major cities have ! competition a year. Publish a magazine that is monthly that shows the tops in their field that month. That would be awesome. I would read it, and compete in it. But no, I have to either build a car that has super car handling, or can go straight really fast.

What do you guys think?

Nevada has an open road race every year. It is around 30 miles of pretty much open roadway.

it is 90 miles, and the weekend of the silver state classic they to have a 1 mile acceleration run. they have more than 1 a year as well, more like 4.

do like me and ship your car out, then fly out to Vegas and let er rip. the first year you are limited to 145mph, read the rules closely.

I am impressed with how well the Mustang did, awesome car! However, the Hennessey Viper and the Turboed Saleen S7 were unbelievable. I can not even imagine getting in a car and being able to hit 200 mph in about 20 seconds. That is just unreal! The driver of those cars is the worlds luckiest man...

I think Saleen needs to take the boost up to 10psi and shoot for the new speed record. That 427 should be making around 900 hp with 10 psi.
