the world record for a stock mustang with tunning is low 11's, i don't know what stock class entails but i think it is all original with a tune and porting. i think his name is ed hohemburg. he has a tuning shop in canada . i belive it is wolfe performance.http://www.wolfperformance.com/about.html

This is NHRA stocker, believe me there is nothing stock about this car, the cam, heads, converter, transmission, gears and so forth have been changed.

My car had bone stock suspension(factory original shocks etc... right down to bushings) and zero weight removal. Would have been fun to run that combo at sea level... or with a decent suspension.

Ed's car was indeed NHRA stock, the heads and intakes were stock (they flowed a ton of stock castings in selecting his final set), the cam was a class legal stick with a max. of 0.500 lift and he shifted a T5 right handy to 5300rpm. The suspension was well set up and Ed is quite a shoe.

If you're telling me you could take one of these cars off the showroom floor, put slicks on it and run 12.99, i'd call you a liar. No way, no how, not with the hand of God pushing it down the track. I've heard of guys who say they have stock engines, but they've been taken apart, balanced, have a cam that was hand picked out of a slew of stock cams that were all measured to find the ones with the most generous "stock" specs that are then degreed/tuned on a dyno, heads and intakes that are hand picked and flowed out, tons of weight reduction...the list goes on and on and on. In the end you can have a car that's technically stock as far as the parts list goes, but has been gone through with a fine tooth comb and had every old hotrod trick done to it.

When i think stock, i'm talking about factory Ford gaskets throughout the entire engine that have never been broken, air silencer, etc etc. That kind of "stock" doesn't run 12s unless you're talking about an LS1.

my car had the motor that is was ship'd with. Underdrive pullies and a 76mm MAM... full exhaust, ceramic clutch, DOT's and skinnies with a 4.10 gear. No suspension work, and no weigh loss. Not even the sway bar was missing.
It went 12.96 in 2600 da...
As far as LS1's go, it ate them at the track, but could not hold a candle to 'em from a roll on the street.

Before I moved to the desert I lived at sea level, and with nothing but and offroad H pipe, 3.73's and 235/65-15 drag radials it went 13.2's... well, Hurst shifter.

Yes, you find me a low milage notch, get it to sea level put 4.10's, slicks and a good shifter in it, and I'll go 12's for you.

It now wears quality E7's, TMoss HO intakes and a little cam and makes 292hps and 325tq's on 7 cylinders .

You know, this whole deal was well documented on the interwebs back in the day.

I don't buy any stock Fox going 12's. People try to define "stock" but there is only one definition. As it came from the manufacturing plant, with everything in place. They were LUCKY to break into the 13's, 12's aren't even a consideration, unless it is being pushed off a 1/4 mile cliff.

Just because it seems some people have a strange definition of what stock means, lets lay it out....There's a big difference between NHRA stock and legitimate off the dealership lot stock.

Legitimate stock doesn’t mean a stock long block with a full host of intake and exhaust bolt ons, gears, suspension mods, tires, etc.

We’re talking stock, off the showroom floor, right down to the plastic air horn in the intake track here. Sure…play with the timing, pull the air filter and even tinker with the fuel and tire pressure.…. as long as it doesn’t involve swapping out a slew of the stock parts in favour of aftermarket stuff, you’re fine, but anything beyond that and the car isn’t stock anymore! In that respect, I have yet to personally lay eyes on a legitimate 12-second Fox that meets that requirement.

So basically, if i take a coupe and gut it to a bare metal shell with a milk crate for a seat, put 4.10s in it, slicks and skinnies, drop all the accessories, tubular K member and A arms, no sway bars, full suspension in the back, lexan windows, fiberglass hood and doors, no bumpers...and i take it out and run 11.xx at the track, i can say "HEY I RAN 11's STOCK!!".

Unless the car is exactly the same as it was when it came out of the Ford factory, it ain't stock anymore, therefore a stock 12-second Fox body is a myth. It didn't come out of the factory as a 12-second car and it takes a whole slew of mods to make it a 12-second car. I don't consider a car that hits the 1/4 mile in 12.99 secs to be a 12-second car either; it's as near as dammit a 13-sec car.
