Oh yeah. New from Summit Detroit Chrome Cobra R's with Kohmo Excsta MX 245/40/17 and 275/40/17 from tire rack, mounted and balanced locally, about $1400.

Minus the $40 rebate that came in the mail yesterday.

Ok seriously now, how the hell does having one less tiny little hole in the center of your wheel look as horrible as you guys make it sound?? I just don't get it, the exact same wheel, just cause they have 5 lugs they look so much better. I think it's just in people's heads that the 5 lug conversion is so awesome, which it is, that it makes the wheels look better too.

The wheel is supposed to be 5 lug, that's how it came. Some of the 4 lug wheels are probably just cheap copies. Usually the point of putting bigger wheels on is to fit in bigger brakes too. If you go with the 5 lug conversion and 5 lug wheels you can fill it nicely with some 13in rotors/brakes.

As I said before though it's just my opinion though.

i just sold a set of 5 lug cobra r's for 800. they were the real deal tho, not a knock off wheel. they also had 75% tread left on the tires with 275/40s in the back and 255/45s up front.

i told the guy up front that i would ask quite a bit for them. he still wanted them. but again, they were real FMS wheels

It's not so much the fact that there is one less lug hole that makes them look bad.

It's the fact that 4-lug wheels means you are running the stock crappy ugly fox disk brakes and ugly ass drums on the car...which you can see right through the spokes.

Seeing the drums through the spokes =

PM if you haven't bought them yet. I have some 5-lugs I can sell you cheaper than that with 2 good BFG KDW 275/45's tires on them.

If you paint the rear drums black, then they aren't nearly as obvious; I could clearly see my rusty ol' drums through my stock 10-holes, even, and it bugged me until I painted 'em - now they blend in perfectly.

I don't buy into the whole idea that having an extra lug equates to better looks, per se, but I do agree that if you're going to blow a wad of cash on new wheels, you might as well do it all at once and do it right by going with a 5-lug swap and 4-wheel discs, while you're at it - better brakes AND better handling in one project.

However, if someone were to cut me a really good deal on a set of 4-luggers, I might not sneeze at the idea too loudly...

However, $800 for a set of USED rims, even with tires, is NOT what I would qualify as a good deal by any means. Heck, here's a deal for ya': spend about $500 on a 5-lug swap and then another $299 on a set of Bullitt-style takeoffs (with tires) from Saleen, and call it done ... that is, assuming they're still running that crazy-cheap sale I read in last month's 5.0 mag...

I called and inquired. They sold out fast/

The tires are the wrong size for a Fox anyway, but S197 wheels look DAMN good on the FOx body....except you need a full SN95 conversion to make them work (and a 5/16" spacer with the 18's)

not my car, but researching putting a polished set on

Bah. Poopie. Shoulda' jumped on that deal, myself, even though I'm a long ways away from ever affording a 5-lug swap of any sort.

Moral of the Story: NOTHING GOOD EVER LASTS.

That I totally agree with, but you can do some good brake upgrades if you still have 4 lugs, it will just cost a hella lot more!

Well no, not really. There is that one company, Stainless Steel Brake Corp, it seems they make a rear disk brake conversion that fits pretty good on my car.

CAn we hear how weak the 4 lugs are too? I could have sworn I saw a Fox running deep in the 10's at the track the other day on 4 lugs!!

But whatever. More wheel selection is really the only good reason imo.

R's are better looking than 85% of the **** people put on thier stangs 4-lug or 5-lug, 800 is way too much though. i got all 4 rims for 450 and they are powdercoated.

The thinner sidewall, wider tire made my car handle 10x better without any other mod, after springs and subframes it handles like its on rails.

Any 5 Spoke wheel looks totally out of whack with exposed 4 lugs!
