Does anyone know if it is possible to change the fuel sending unit on a 68 coupe without removing the tank? I have straight dual exhaust so there is some room between the tank and rear end. Anyone every attempt this?

You should be able to, seeing as how you must remove the sending unit before removing the tank. I don't know if a '68 is any different, but I did this in my '65 with no problems.

You can change it without removing the tank.

Hopefully you have a drain. Be prepared to get gassed!

easy to remove, though a bit messy.

If you have a drain, it is likely on the pass. side lower front corner. Remove plug and drain tank. You now have volatile fumes in tank, so take care with any sparks. Turn sender in its mount (easy to see which way once you are under the tank). Everything comes out in one piece. If it is 5/16 small block sender, you can upgrade to 3/8 CobraJet, if you like.
