I am new to this forum and relitively new to Mustangs, although I have considerable experience restorinq other brands. This car was my dads and I am in the process of getting it on the road as a driver. I is a Cleveland motored automatic. I only drove this car a couple of times before he passed away and it was all I could do to keep it on the road. I am about half way through a complete front end rebuild. But after reading some of the posts on various rack and pinion installs. I am wondering if I am going down the wrong road. Will this thing ever drive ok with stock suspension.

Properly refurbished, the front suspension will do whatever you want, including racing. Seriously, if you are driving it on the street, the stock front end is more than OK. Way too much money is spent on suspension goodies that aren't really needed.

Install an export brace, and Monte Carlo bar.

You should have a 1" front bar, and you should lower the upper control arms 1". This will radically improve handling and response. Including wheel alignment, you're looking at maybe $250, and it'll feel like a whole 'nother car.

dont worry about trying to install rack and pinion steering on your stang, as it can be a fools errand. especially since borgeson and abspowerbrakes both have new steering boxes with integral power steering that you can install if you like.
