1971 grille question

I recently purchased a mach 1 grille for my 71 that currently has a standard grille in it. I haven't taken anything apart yet, but just from looking at the new grille it appears that it mounts up differently than the standard grille. Any one have any experience on this?

Is the grille you purchased for a 71, or is it for a 72 or 73?

71-72 used the same grille. The standard and mach1 are interchangeable. The 73 was not at all the same.
