I should have got a few, the storm looked incredible coming in, the sky was green as can be.

It was moving so fast though, when I heard the tornado sirens go off I left work real fast to get home because my daughter was all alone and gets pretty panicky during serious storms.

Turns out no tornado, but the storm produced 100+ mph winds at the front. Knocked down a bunch of trees.

It's not that Mikey, first off, it's July and we don't get too many tornadoes at this time of year, and B. The tornadoes around here usually kick off in the evening after the ground has had a full day of heating.

So it's just an unusual time of day for them in my area.

I'm glad y'all are ok. Those tornadoes up there are no joke.

23 pages with maybe five about the car!

Next Thursday I can pick it up, but I'll be getting ready for a trip east.

Soon Nick, soon. I'm more anxious than about anyone to get after it.

This build will be slow though. Three to five years.

The initial making it comfortable and running will be pretty fun. I intend to blow about three grand on it right away, then drive it till Doby is done.

Actually that car car was my inspiration to paint mine that way. Tony's had that thing since the 90s. Mine was just a little street car with 10 hole wheels.

I found a couple doors locally that are in really good condition.

They are from an '83 convertible, so they will work on my t-top.

https://tulsa.craigslist.org/pts/5676501247.html

I want these because my right one, if you remember, is split by the mirror. The left one has issues too, not as drastic, but several hours of bodywork will be involved with it.

Now the sy owner said he would replace the door for nothing, but I saw the door he's speaking of. It will require several hours of bodywork too.

These doors, on the other hand will require very little work......He says he wants $300, I've talked to him and told him it would be a month before I would need (or be able to afford) them. I have to go to Alabama.

So, here it is, I will offer him $250. If I get them, I'll send them off to a local soda blaster and have them stripped, then I'll etch them and primer them.

It would be good to have a set of doors as backup as well.

They had power windows, my GLX has manual. There isn't a problem with changing the power for manual mechanisms, is there?

What do you guys think?

I was gonna say, where are you going to get the power for them? Are there unused plugs in the body harness somewhere, or are you going to have to home wire it?

Dave i tried looking it back up but couldn't find it. But I'm certain I read in a thread (pretty sure the link is in dobys thread somewhere.) that the convertible doors Are different , and he had to modify them in a few ways to make them work.

Yeah Chris, you're right.

A convertible door is different than a normal door, it has no window frame requiring a different window as well.

They are the same as a t-top door though.

I'll take out the wiring harness of the old doors and put them in the new ones. All they have is electric locks, I might have a whopping two wires in each door harness.

All doors started as coupe/hatchback doors and they cut off the window frame. You can find nice coupe/hatch doors, cut off the frames and swap over your "guts" from your t top door. Trust me, I have done it. Several years ago guys were asking big bucks for vert doors because they were "rare". I got a pair of doors off a coupe for $50, curt off the frames and had perfect "vert" doors. The key to this method is however that you must already have a set of doors with the correct glass and internals to swap over.

Sorry Dave, I remembered there being modifications and something about different bracing on the inside.

There is bracing inside. You have to swap that over to the coupe hatch doors if you go that route. That's what I meant when I said you must swap over the "guts" of the doors.
