I currently have a stock 5.0 and carb in my 85 GT.

I need a new dashpot/kicker. There are three wires. Two go to the switch and one to the other.

Can I eliminate any of this on my carb?
Can I go to any mechanical without any issues on my computer?

I’m having to rebuild a junk harness in that area so I’m eliminating some wires if I can.

I have eliminated my AC.

It would be easier to answer with a wiring diagram for your year. I hope someone has one.

I have the diagram too. I’m just wondering if I can eliminate this with the AC off with no issue

My concern with that is what the early EEC will do without that device. My pre computer 302/5.0 ran fine without one with dealer AC and a Holley 1850-2. But if yours has a computer, at least the later ones are happier with the expected sensors. And I do not see reprogramming an early computer to be worth more than just putting the part in.

Do I truly need the stock dashpot if I don’t have AC? It’s my stock carb. 4180

The dashpot may also help bring the idle up when coming to a stop if it's a 5 speed. It should be easy to adjust around.

I don't believe 85 GT's with the carb engine had a computer.

Remember that square aluminum box that leaked goo down the inner fender panel.

If I remember correctly it is only used for ac on idle step up, can't remember it being tied into the cold start choke, if it is and you take it off you may have to hold the throttle open a little for a minute or two for cold start.
