My 1992 5.0 LX is pristine with 62k miles, always garaged a true survivor 100% original Titanium Frost factory paint.
The only issue I have is discoloration under the hood on the radiator support and around both sides under the fender mounting bolts
I was told that this occurs over time due to a rust inhibitor that was sprayed at the factory.
Can anyone confirm this and possibly recommend something to clean it off without harming the paint?
Thanks!
Chris

Can you post pictures? Are you talking about rustproofing spray or just faded paint? If it is undercoating/rustproofing there are companies that use dry ice to remove it.

It's definitely not the paint fading.
I'm out of town until 12/26, I'll post a picture then.
Any more info on how dry ice is used?
Thanks!

Can anyone recommend a mild chemical that could remove this discolored factory rust inhibitor?
It's really yellowed over the years ( see above picture) and as the rest of the car is perfect, really needs to be taken care of!
Thanks!

I'd try wax & grease remover first... though I really don't think it's gonna work.... it's just where I'd start. If that doesn't cut it, I'd try mineral spirits next.

Removing/treating the discoloration depends on what it is, wax and grease remover is a good place to start, likely not to harm the paint, though it will remove the factory markings most times.
I've not heard anything about a factory/dealer treatment applied on top of paint but I'm just just a back yard hack.
