Hi all,

I know the Haynes is notorius for being incorrect, and I think this is one of the parts that is very incorrect. My Haynes manual says that the 98 GTs have a T50 D transmission. First off, I've never even HEARD of that transmission. 2nd, WTF?

Can anyone please correct this and tell me which transmission is actually in the 98 GT? Also, what is the fluid capacity? I'm about to head to O Reily's and get some Royal Purple :D I'll get 5 quarts (10 pints) just to make sure I have enough, but I still want to know the actual capacity.

Thanks again :SNSign:!!!

T-45

MERCON° Multi-Purpose (ATF) Transmission

3-3.2 (Liters)

or

6.4-6.7 (Pints)

So, yeah if you get 10 pints you will have plenty ... I always get more than required also.

Thanks, so it's 6.6 pint capacity?

Yeah but hold up a second ... I just saw a T50D in the service manual and it says that the T50D takes 5.6 pints. I don't know wtf a T50D is but my 98 gt has a T45.

Now I'm confused ... Reading though ....

It's a T45. :nice:

Sorry to confuse you and myself ...

alright lets clear it up t45 is in the 96 and up v-8 4.6 cars and the t5od is in the 95 earlier v-8 5.0 models

The T-5od (usually just called the T-5) is also used in all 96-07+ V6 Mustangs.

So the '98 GT and Cobra have the T-45 while the '98 V6 has the T-5(od)

That's probably why the manual is incorrect. They are stating specs that are correct for the V6, but not the GT.

Thanks for clearing that up. :)
