1998 Mustang 3.8 to 5.0 swap?

Here's some information to get you started:

https://www.allfordmustangs.com/forums/v6-tech/287072-v6-v8-swap-faq-newbies-read-here-first.html

The short answer to your question is: Yes, Yes, and Yes.

The successful people on the forums report transferring the entire wiring harness from a donor GT to get the job done.

For a 5.0 swap, other questions such as engine management need to be answered.

Try searching car-part.com to get an idea what's available in your area.

Also answer questions such as "will this car have to pass an ODB2 smog test"?

Here's the dirty little secrete of motor swaps. In locations that have an ODB2 smog test unless you transplant the entire wiring harness and PCM of a compatible car the PCM will never go ODB2 ready.

And there's the "visual inspection" part of the SMOG test. You would think that any mechanic worth their salt would notice that the motor installed doesn't match the VIN motor code.
