Put a 351w in instead of the 5.0 just a thought. You are all ready swaping why not swap to something a little bigger with better power caperbilites(stronger) and pretty much uses the same parts as the 5.0(heads cam upper intake motor mounts tranny accesories etc...)

Kick ass!

I'm getting kinda fired up to do this swap with you now.

I agree, the 351w swap would be great, but for our situation, the 302 probably is the best option.
Doug already has the motor.

I did find the thread listed in the 'Tech Thread Index'
but I haven't found much more info.

Does anyone have any links and/or recommendations?

Tasks we will be undertaking...
2.3 to 5.0 conversion.
MAF conversion (the current 302 is SD, and I have all the needed parts)
Auto to Manual trans conversion

I don't have any first hand experience with any of these, and will be helping Doug as much as I can.

Any help would be appreciated,
jason

We already have the EFI, and I already have 90% of the junk to custom tune the EFI...

It would cost more to CONVERT to carb at this point.

if can, find a donor 5.0 car in a jy that you scrounge all the fuel lines, suspension, an other odds and ends from. it will make your life much easier

I guess I should elaborate on where we are now...

Doug has been finding some great deals so we have
1987 5.0 t5 Complete and Running
1992 2.3 auto Complete and Running
(I may be a little off on the years...)

We have both cars, and they are complete.
I have been stock piling j/y parts for a MAF conversion, Taurus e- fan, among other things.

We'll probably pull the 2 cars into the shop, and have them side by side for the length of the conversion.

I guess my biggest concern is converting the 2.3 auto to manual.

For all the guys who have done the conversion before...
What parts did you end up buying new?
Was everything you needed on the donor cars, or did you have to go to the parts store for anything?

Thanks for the link...
Did you ever figure out what the plug under the dash was for?

What was different between your harness and the 92 harness?

I never figured out what it was for. I just got another harness for an 89 and the engine started right up.
I don't know. I was told there were 3 different harnesses. 87-88, 89-90, & 91-93 I think.
