Ok, I used to be on this board a good bit like two years ago. I have a 66 coupe but due to an incident involving some bald tires, rain, a sharp turn, and poor judgement the front got ****ed up pretty good. So its been sitting in my parking lot ever since. Recently though I got a free beat up 68 with no drivetrain that Im working on taking apart. Just wondering if anybody could run tell me about some of the numbers and tell me if they're anything special.

Heres the numbers:
body:65A
color:M
trim:2A
D.S.O: 16
axle:3
trans:W

Attached a picture of what the 66 used to look like but dont know if i didt it right

Welcome back! It seems that your car is pretty run of the mill. Do you have the VIN?

I am using a decoder from an old M+ catalog.

body=Hard Top with bucket seats
color=acapulco blue
trim:black, all vinyl
D.S.O:ordered through the Philly sales district
axel:missing from the decoder. Was a 3.20:1 in 1967 and a 2.79:1 in 1969. If you meant "E" instead of "3", then it was a 3.00:1 in 1968
trans:c-4 auto

VIN # is 8TOIC140102

The stuff i take is probably just gonna get sold to help pay to rebuild the 66. Not hoping for anything rare really, just curious.

And thanks for the help. Much appreciated, its been so long since Ive done anything with a mustang im getting rusty.

According to the M+ decoder, I was able to get additional info about your car:

the car was built at the Metuchen, NJ plant, and it came with a 289-2V engine.

Not rare but it is yours. Enjoy.

I'm in the same boat. Mine is an early '68 with a vinyl top, 289-2V, C4, 3.00s, PS & A/C. A ho-hum old man's car if there ever was one. Makes it easier to modify without guilt .

According to my 1968 shop manual for 8T01C140102:

8 - 1968
T - Metuchen
01 - 2-door hard top
C - 289 2V
140102 - 140101th consecutive unit built.(starting from 100001)

It also started life with white paint, black vinyl interior, and a C4. Said already, but it helps to confirm info.
