ok this is the problem. the other day i left work and without any warning my car just shut down on me. it started right back up without a problem then about 5 miles down the road it did it again. It did it one more time about another 5 miles. it didnt do it again for the rest of the way home. that was about 20 miles. i havent drove it since. i got my brother in law over here yesterday and we looked the car over and it seems alright. so my question is what going on with my baby. please help!!!

Mods? Under drive pulleys? Check the crank shaft position sensor.

Manual or automatic? Was going on at the time it died (coasting, idling, steady speed)?

When was the last time you changed the fuel filter? Spark plugs? Cleaned the MAF?

Take to an autoparts store and read the DTC codes (even the "pending" codes).

Check your battery. Terminals clean and tight? Battery itself? Today's cars will NOT run without a strong battery and charging system.

Suspect bad Idle Adjustment Controler (IAC).

Must be a hundred threads on how to trouble shoot IAC problems.

It does take a little time to re-learn idle trim values.

In neutral with AC off and let idle one full minute with your foot on the brake.

Turn the AC on and let idle one full minute with your foot on the brake.
