The Mustang is bad about developing leaks in the corners near the rear glass. The leaks come from repeated folding of the convertible top at the same point (remember the glass does not bend).

Applying any kind of patch is difficult because the patch has to be larger than the leak. Further the patch would have to bend in the same spot or rip itself to pieces. Trust me. I really tried. All of my attempts failed.

When I had this very same thing happen to my convertible I had the rear wind screen replaced since the rest of the top was in good shape.

Often times I would open the top when the weather was not looking good only to close it a few miles down the road. I realized that was taking "life" out of the top with each open/close event. After replacing the rear wind screen I resolved to open the top only when the chances of completing the trip were better. The other change made was to NOT leave the top in the down position.

Thank you for the replies very helpful. I called one place for a top quote and they said $1500, basically $1000 for the top (which can be had from American Muscle for UNDER $400 with heated rear window!) and the rest labor. I'm not into getting raped. The leak is just a drip and not bad so I have time. Might even just sell it and get a hard top!
