This relay looking thing is hanging down under my dash on the drivers side. Anyone have a guess as to what it might be? Looks kind of like a rig to me.
There is no aftermarket alarm on the car. The PO had a stereo in the car with amps. I know that because there is a fused heavy gauge wire that is cut before the battery. Also some heavy gauge wire under the trunk mat. I don't think a stereo would use a relay would it? I will see if I can see where they go.
Not normally, I don't know on some of those cagillion watt monsters though. There are so many things like alarms, lighting etc you can add that might require that, hoping tracing will answer it(or somebody more knowledgeable chimes in).
Looked up under the dash and all the wires go up over the fuse box. That is as far as I can see them. Guess I will just leave it there. Afraid if I remove it the car will not run.
Might be the best option if you have to pull the fuse box or other electrical components/looms to trace further. Relays are usually used to turn a on a high amperage circuit using a low amperage one so I am thinking maybe high wattage stereo or?
