My buddy has a 2003 GT, and I was wondering what kind of horspower results I would get with a totally rebuilt engine. He plans nn stroking the engine out with a 5.0 crank, and all new built internals. He is going to keep the P.I. Heads and P.I. Intake. He was just wondering what kind of horsepower numbers he would see with the new crank and built internals.

I'd also say around 10hp, boring will get you more. Buttt, your engine will be more bulletproof.

I'd suggest to your friend to get a supercharger running low boost....paired with gears....say 3.73 (s/c + gears=tirespin...is he a good driver?) and that will make a HUGE DIFFERANCE..

After all, what is it a couple grand for such a dramatic differance...worth it. I would only get my engine rebuilt if it was old...not to make up HP...unless you want to and got the money to waste, or you NEED stronger internals for a high boost sc or turbo..

that's why i recomend low boost superchargers...correct me if i'm wrong guys, but wont a low boost sc add about 60 rwhp and around 70ft lbs rwtq on a stock GT 4.6...?

I'd think a stroker would be worth a little more than 10hp. I'd give it in the neighbourhood of 20-25. Have the heads ported and polished and add a host of bolt ons and then really watch the numbers climb.

Alright guys thanks for all your input, so now that I see that it is only worth 20 horspower or so what would patriot heads do for a built engine.

the stroker kit alone will not gain you much, if any hp. some people have actually lost hp with the stroker kit and stock heads. you will however, gain a bunch of low end torque. but if you really want to take advantage of the added stroke, you need to get the heads ported and some cams.

Exactly my point. All that additional displacement doesn't do you a lick of good if it's all choked up within the intake and exhaust system. Open things up and both ends and you'll see the numbers climb.
