2004 Tranny Problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont have a grind just a severe clunk which I have been told by 2 dealers is normal. :bang: The real problem is: That the whole car shudders when driving between 55 and 65 in fifth gear. It only happens when I let off the gas and feels like the car is missing. I have 12000 miles on the car. I dont think it would be a miss because in only happens when the throttle is closed. Any ideas??

yeah I know that all of these wonderful 3650's clunk, but I am more worried about the 5th gear thing. It seems like it does it more when the cruise in on.
The car kinda stutters around 55 mph. It just started doing it. As long as the engine is under load its ok, just when you let off.

Could it be a driveline vibration?? possibly from the driveshaft or rear end? Did you take it to the dealer yet? I had a F-150 in the shop with a similar problem, i found it had thrown the balancing weight off the driveshaft this caused a bad vibration between 55-70 mph. you could also check the drive shaft for any signs of being bent, look for any dents or dings in the driveshaft.

Mine lighly clunks SOMETIMES when switching into 1st or 2nd, but no problem with 5th at any speed or any other gear...trans shifts pretty darn good too, and if my seat is not too far back (for comfort) the I can pretty much always hit 3rd.Glad I got one with a good trans.BTW it has 4400 or so miles.

Just wanted to give an update on my problem: One of my buddies has a diablo programmer and he returned his car to stock and used it on mine and it fixed the Problem. After we figured out it was the computer I unhooked the battery for a while and it seems to have fixed the problem. I just thouight it was kind of wierd.
