2005 GT with 68k

15,000 miles a year is considered normal when determining blue book values. 68,000 miles would not scare me away. If the price is right, go for it. I had 240,000 miles on the modular motor in my Navigator and it ran like it did when I bought it new.

thats not bad. i would change the plugs out before the mileage gets much higher, or find out if the old owner pulled the plugs and put some anti seize on yet.

if 68,000 miles is considered high to you, get the extended warranty for piece of mind.

I just went through months of intense research and stang hunting(these boards helped a lot!).....I'm not sure I would go through with it...What are they "asking" for it?(if you don't mine) IMO my price range was around 13-14k when I first started looking, and there were a lot of stangs in that price range too(back in Dec.-beginning of Feb.) But a lot of these stangs had either been in a wreck or beaten to death...

In Dec. and Jan. auto dealers had the worst sales figures since 1991-92'

In mid. Feb, prices spike (speculation of stimulus plan) and sales go up a little. Then the speculation goes down and sales #'s go to S*** again, but these dealers STILL have to pay every single day for their inventory; so their losing money like no other...which makes for a lot of stingy dealers, and stingy dealers will do and say anything to make a buck....I will tell you right now, don't believe a word that the salesperson says....whether its a"blue oval certified" dealer, or a mom and pop's 3 car dealer....In today's economy, some of these salespeople will do anything to sale....

Hey man, something came up and I gotta run...I have a lot more on this and "experiences"....but imo, quick advice...Look over the mustang meticulously(taking it to your mechanic is an extremely good idea before buying used, defiantly worth $50, $100, whatever to save yourself so much frustration, time and money) Also, don't look at the "sales price" or what they are asking for it......The price of the car is what YOU think it is worth(this means looking it over with a fine tipped comb) and telling them how much YOU will pay for it....If they won't take it, walk, there will always be another stang for sale(patience is your best or worst weapon with buying cars)...Either way, let us know what their asking for it, good luck

I bought an 05 stang two months ago for $14,500...and it only had 35k miles on it.

With all the hard driving fellow members do on their cars, 68K isn't too bad. The 5.0's of years past still run hard. I personally would give it a mild tune up: throttle body injector service, plug change, cabin air filter/air filter/fuel filter change (if dirty), drain and fill of the man trans, and get a verified measurement of the front and rear brake pads. The dealership reconditioning dept is supposed to address these areas before selling. Years ago I worked at a dealer that kind of skimped on these areas and just gave a 12mon/12k mile warranty ($50.00 deduct) on powertrain items and 30 days bumper to bumper coverage at 50% of repair cost. Did you have a chance to compare a quick accel grunt of your GT with a new one? Congrats on your buy and remember these cars really are built to last a long time if kept within stock power levels.

.....Seriously thought, I would do everything that he mentioned. The previous owner could have beaten on it or not, either way, it is not going to hurt to do a good tune up Congratulations on the new car! We need PICTURES!!

DAMN... how much was that thing up in the air broken?!?

... yup, someone stuck a foot in it and it got away from them... took it to 'uncle' Joe's shop to get the work done so it dosent show up on car fa
