2005 mustang gt Throttle position sensor

I replaced the throttle position sensor on my 2005 mustang gt and when I went to crank it up, it started up and then dies. It wouldn't stay running. Crank up and die. Is there a procedure to installing one of these? Maybe the sensor is just defective?
