I know this totally defeats the purpose of purchasing the 4.0L 'Stang, but I got thinking (which is a scary thing) and was wondering a couple of things:

1. Would swapping the 4.0L with the 5.0L/302 GT-40 M-6007-XE3 crate engine be possible?

2. Exactly what would have to be done to the car in order for this to work (if it will work at all)

3. Approximately how much would this cost (A Lot I already know, but a ballpark figure)

4. Whatever else Like the situation if its an Auto...

I know already that I will hear "either stick with a V6 or just buy the GT," and yes, I am fully aware of that, I am just curious after seeing that Galpanized Boss Mustang to showcase the new Boss crates and I just got started on a new project to do in my spare time: Black 1987 Ford Mustang 5.0 I am pretty lucky with this one--found a wrecked blue 5.0 5 spd. with only 12,000 originial miles and entire driveline intact! Then, a few weeks later, I found an 87 5.0 with two flats and a blown engine (Previous owner cracked the block, just sold it for $200 cash) So basically this is where I spawned the idea of swapping motors and all.

The engine swap might be possible... a lot easier to swap in a 4.6, methinks. Instead of an engine swap, consider forced induction like a turbo or supercharger. I've got a Vortech on my 05 auto 4.0L and am putting down 317rwhp/298rwtq. Plenty of guys with supercharged 4.0L's hitting 13's and a growing number hitting 12's.

If you do decide to swap motors, let us know how it goes!!

Im with hamidlmt, forced induction would be easier and cheaper. Unless you just WANT a 5.0. Im sure its possible because there is plenty of room.

Thanks guys, I never really had any intentions of proceeding with this, I just wanted to know if it was possible and what exactly it would take [If I EVER did attempt it, which is unlikely, cuz why would I go butcher up a brand new 'stang for that?]

Well, once I get bored of the performance, I was already leaning toward a turbocharger, and I have a few questions about it if you don't mind answering [I know this probably will fall in one of the other categories on this site, but forgive me] For one, exactly what besides the actual turbo kit would i need to mod on my car besides like larger fuel injectors and stuff like that. I am not planning to run twinT's on it [yet] but how would i go about installing a turbo and for the engine not to wear or get damaged in any way. Just to let you know I will not be taking this car to the strip anytime soon, that's why I have thae '87 5.0 proj. Instead I want this to be a rleiable daily driver that has enough umph to rape a stock GT: What exactly would i have to do to the mustang to get it to that point?
[Already am planning on getting JBA Headers, their True Dual-Exhaust, a cold-air intake, a flash tuner, and a smaller underdrive pulley.] Can you point me in the right direction?
