Needing to remove my top and headliner, anyone ever done this? Do you have any instructions from a Ford service manual or ? that you can share? Any help will be appreciated; have more time to do it myself than $$$ to pay someone to do.

Hello,

The only experience that I have with the newer Mustang's convertible top is replacing the Hydraulic system on a '07 convertible. If you have to replace that then here's a procedure that will be an asset to you:

Lower the convertible top.

Remove the rear seat backrests.

Remove the 2 rear quarter trim panels.

Momentarily place the convertible top switch in the raise position to release the tension on the convertible top system.

Remove the 2 bolts (1 each side) and the 2 hydraulic lift cylinder brackets (1 each side).

Remove the 2 clevis-to-hydraulic lift cylinder rod bolts.

Fully lower the hydraulic lift cylinders.

Release the hydraulic line locators on each side.

Disconnect the convertible top pump motor electrical connector. (refer to Mustang convertible top diagram)

Remove the 6 bolts (3 each side) attaching the L brackets to the quarter panel.

Remove the 2 nuts and the convertible top pump and motor assembly.

Hydraulic Lift Cylinder:
Remove the hydraulic lines from the lift cylinder.

--Installation--

Motor Assembly:
Install the hydraulic lines onto the motor assembly fittings, and tighten to 35 inch lbs. (4 Nm).

Hydraulic Lift Cylinder:
Install the hydraulic lines onto the hydraulic lift cylinder fittings, and tighten to 35 inch lbs. (4 Nm).

Hydraulic System:
Bleed the hydraulic system.

Install the 6 bolts (3 each side) attaching the L-brackets to the quarter panel.

Tighten to 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm).

Position the convertible top motor and hydraulic lift cylinders and install the convertible top motor nuts.

Tighten to 35 inch lbs. (4 Nm).

Connect the convertible top motor electrical connector.

Engage the hydraulic line locators on each side.

Install the 2 clevis-to-hydraulic lift cylinder rod bolts.

Tighten to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).

Position the hydraulic lift cylinders and install the 2 brackets and the 2 bolts.

Tighten to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).

Install the 2 rear quarter trim panels.

Install the rear seat backrest.

Raise the convertible top.

I'll try to locate a DIY article on replacing the top itself as soon as possible :flag:
