Anybody have any "insider" info on the 2008 Bullitt? Any time frame when it will be built?

Just got the Jan07 issue of MOTOR TREND. Here's what they say:

"The Mustang continues to be one of the few bright spots in Ford's product range, and Dearborn intends to make the most of the reborn ponycar's popularity. The recently announced 325-hp Shelby GT will be joined by two more Mustang variants in 2007 -- an all-new Bullitt and the long-rumored Boss.

"The new Bullitt will be the best interpretation up to this time of the iconic 1968 390 GT driven by Steve McQueen in the movie that still sets enthusiasts' pulses racing for its real-world chase sequence through the streets of SF.

"Insiders who've seen styling mockups report the 2007 Bullitt features a plain grille without galloping pony badge or spotlights and black-painted panel between the taillights, just like McQueen's '68. Naturally, the car will be available in Highland Green."

I wish I could believe what MT says. They are so far off the mark most of the time.

There isn't any offical information on the next special edition beyone the Shelby GT. We are getting close to the autoshow season though, so maybe we'll get a sneak peak at Fords future plans.

Let me just say there are a few prototypes being worked on right now that will blow your mind. My brother-in-law has been working on a few. (Bullit, Boss, GT350, GT500KR w/ 2.8 Whipple, and few more.)

Latest time frame I have heard was January 08 for Job One. Orders start in December. If it is like any other SE that has come out, you better have a BIG down payment. The dealer add on is going to be outragous on this one too.. I have already heard about 10-20K markups on the GT and it's not even out yet.

So long as there are idiots in this world willing to throw money away, we will keep seeing this. I'm just going to follow one of these fools home and B-slap them in their driveway and demand the keys..... (almost done venting)... I mean come on! Who in their right mind pays thousands over sticker to be the first to drive a Highland green GT? The MSRP is a fair price on a new SE Mustang and anything above that is just outrageous. IF these cars sell for that much over sticker, I'm giving the dense driver (either dense minded or pocket booked or both) the one finger salute for making me wait until MSRP is offered. crapola :damnit:

Is that speculation, or do you have actual knowledge?

OK, I had dinner with some friends. He has seen a preproduction Bullitt. He said though only 10 more horsepower over the stock figures.

well that would be a whole chunk of who gives a $h*t, assuming it's true. With Chevy and Dodge both coming out with 400 hp hot rod 2 doors in the near future Ford better get a big engine ready if it wants to compete.

Even my friend was a bit dissapointed when he was given the summary. It is quite sad...

He did talk about then next boss a bit though he was a little more uninformed than I was so I don't think that information is concrete yet.
