So I have a 2011 Shelby GT500, and I have absolutely no experience with a nav system, or even a fancy stereo. Today I took a long trip with my daughter and told her "hey you can watch a movie during the drive up" anyways, pop in the dvd and great, begin to drive and BAM no movie, which I totally understand from a safety stand point. Is there a way to bypass?

Yes and no... There is a company called Coastal Electronic Tech and they make a device called a lockpick. I have it, but the Mustang's SYNC set-up is different than any other Ford. So, mine will play DVD's and I now have a back-up camera, but all the interface devices do not work yet, like address input in-motion for the Nav. Coastal Elec Tech has been great at keeping me up to date and have said that an update should be out before the end of this month to make the lock pick fully functional. Updates are free, so if you decide to buy one now and hook it up (took me about 20 minutes) you can just hook your laptop to it to update it when the new software drops.

Hope that helps a little bit.

I had a nav system once that was bypassed. You could watch a movie but it really is not a good idea. I don't care how good a driver you might be, it does distract. And that can be deadly.

I have an 11GT, In my nav manual it states it will play a DVD if in park(auto) or brake on (manual). I wonder if you lift the brake handle just enough to get the brake light to come on than start driving and see if the DVD plays. If it does, well????

Or find the switch that the brake engages and permanently fix it?

On my sport-trac I just earthed the wire and I get DVD while moving, but that was with an aftermarket headunit.
