2011 Shelby Damaged paint job

I bought a 2011 Shelby about 3 weeks ago, and have physically had it about 2 weeks. Anyways I washed my car for the first time and noticed paint chipped/missing under the rear spoiler/upper trunk. I called the dealer and they said they gave it 100% inspection, and there is nothing I can do. I have a feeling I have to pound sand for not seeing it sooner. Is there something I can do?

According to the warranty guide damage of paint from use / exposure to elements isn't covered. Since you didn't identify it during your vehicle walk around prior to taking delivery, and it has been 3 weeks, you are 99% SOL.

A GOOD dealer would take care of it.

is that a scratch below the paint chips? if not, here's what im thinking. its total BS and the dealer should fix it. i mean, how would a person damage their car right there? it just doesn't make sense. that area is basically protected by the wing so im not seeing how it could get messed up unless the paint just didn't stick in the first place.

As is stands, it will be fixed. I will have a rental on them, but still has me upset, dealer is not near by, and my weekends are pretty much spoken for. Having to take care of something that should have been done the right way upsets me period.

**** happens man, you bought a new car and missed seeing it in the first place when you were on the lot, so it's not like the dealer screwed you over, they must have missed it to. Yeah, it sucks, but it happens, so don't let it get you that pissed off...

i have a issue with my bumper, hopefully they don't try to pull a fast one.

my salesman didn't do a walk around on mine. so i got that to back me up.

I'm sure they did a PDI. I've never had a new car salesman prompt me to do a walk around on my purchase, it didn't stop me from doing it. Why would you fork out money for a new car and not do a detailed inspection yourself?

i can't speak for this guy but its very very easy to look over a car and even with a trained eye miss things because you're getting you're dream car or whatever. there's all sorts of reasons why this could have been missed. my heart goes out to the guy, its just a problem that needs to be corrected.

Just plain missed it. No excuses, but it will be fixed, only cost me will be time. I have calmed down about it.

AGREED! The best thing to do when taking delivery of your new car is to calm down, put your game face on and go over it with a fine tooth comb..... you can get excited when you burn rubber down the block from the dealer.
