Just looked at the review from Moter Trend and both the 5.0 and V6 are impressive.

5.0:hail2:
0-60 = 4.3 seconds
1/4 = 12.8
60-0 in 105ft

V6 :hail2:
0-60 = 5.1 seconds
1/4 = 13.7
60-0 in 104 ft

Those numbers are crazy. The v6 runs about the same as the 315hp 4.6. You could easly get the v6 down into the 4 second 0-60 times and run low 13s with just basic mods. The 5.0 you could run low 12s with no problems and may be high 11s with basic mods.

imo the motor trend stang was what it is. a lighter car with less power and less torque and tiny tires.

12.8 vs 12.9 and same mph. the power to weight ratio of that run was the same. (3.73's not withstanding) sounds to me like the preimum stang tested was heavier than reported.

base weight is 3605 for a base car. those fellows buying premiums are getting more electronics, heavier heated seats, and whatever other options it has added.

so its a 412hp/390tq 3732lbs car, against a 3860lb 426hp/420tq SS.

i mean i just calculated weight. but the race is what it is. a heavy car with 412hp against a heavier car with 426hp.

the 60' were the same. the et's were .1 different, and the mph were the same. the VCT probably helped midrange.

i ordered the lighter version for a reason. least possible weight = faster. brembos save weight. no spoiler, base car. etc.

both cars are slightly underrated. the stang tested was heavier than expected. and even with 255 p-zero's there was no traction..

everyone wait for Evan Smith to tell us what it can really do. and dyno's of stock cars. ill dyno mine after it loosens a bit.

Thats it I'm done moding my car. I will save up for a year or so. Try to sell mine for 10k then pick up a used 2011 when the 2012s come out. I might actually go with the v6. You probably could pick up a 2011 v6 for around 17k in 2012 (2010 v6s are around 17-18k now). I would then slap a blower on it push over 400+rwhp and get almost 30mpg. That beats my 15mpg and only 293rwhp. I think you could pick up a 2011 GT in the 2012my for around 25-28k.

Those cars are going to sale like hot cakes over the next 3-4 years. 11 second v6 stangs at the track is coming in the near future. Ford finally nailed it, again. First time they really have since the 03-04 cobra.

I agree this is as big as the 1979 Fox and 03-04 cobra. Also this is the first time I would not mind having a V6 muscle car (though I would miss the V8 sound). I can see a lot of people pushing mid 12 second sixers (with not to many mods) and then as you said a few 11 second ones. So what do we all think Ford will do for the big 50th for the 2014MY?

Thats it I'm done moding my car.

That's how I feel...except I'm going to add 4.30s, beef up the rear some and I'll be done besides some different wheels and fatter tires out back...other then that I want a new 5.0 sometime down the road. But I've poured so much money into my car and I do have a built motor now to where I could still add some mild boost down the road if I wanted...I feel I should just keep mine forever.

Def impressive what car-makers are putting out these days though.
