Gotta love technology but GT can mod itself the same. Though, I bet the V6 will surprise a lot of cars out there but I bet a lot of them might get surprised themselves when taking on an older model Stang...after all, a lot of us have been in the mustang modding game for a lot longer.
That being said I'm up for a race with a new V6 especially since mine looks stock, ha.

300 HP is 300HP anyway you slice it. I'm surprised it wasn't closer - the V6 must have the economy gears out back.
I would bet it’s the additional 10hp and 40lbs/ft of torque at peek (as well as the additional power under the curve the 4.6L 3V provides) that the GT is sporting that made the difference, not any set of gears out back.
That 2011 mustang is pretty cool but in the end there is no replacement for displacement.
Tell that to the GM fan boy’s whose 6.2L LS3 is only putting out the same power numbers on the dyno as Fords smaller 5.0L Ti VCT.
It seems that there is in fact a replacement for displacement. Its variable cam timing and over all volumetric efficiency.

I'm down with running one. I'd like to see where I'd sit in comparison.

From looking at that race, niether one of the drivers were all that great, I'm thinking that the V-6 was an auto. Race probaly go to you.

GM LS3/2/1 boys are just now getting into their crawls that a smaller motor is going to give them real trouble.
hate to say it but my next car is going to be a cadillac cts-v. the 2011gt will be for fun driving.

I don't like your odds. I thought the '99-'04 Mustangs might put up more of a fight, but after seeing a 2010 GT barely walk away from one, I'm certain that the 2V crew doesn't have a chance without substantial bolt ons.

yeah, some of the guys are a little anxious, but most of us, welcome the opportunity. It should be a nice shootout between the ls3 and the 5.0 cars. Last Friday at HRP, LMR's 2010 went 9.91 at 128(no 4th gear). The car went 9.9's @144mph a few weeks earlier without the right traction. In Houston, we have 2010 camaro's in the 500+rwhp area with stock heads from Gforce and LMR, and some solid 10 second cars on motor. LMR's car is expected to go 9.0-9.4s in the next couple weeks.
My old shop, Strictly Performance had their brand new 2011GT out last Friday at HRP(paper tags). Car went 11.8's fully gutted with bolt ons, gears, cage etc. I might call Richard tomorrow to see if he will let me know the setup on the car. It was already on the trailer by 7:30 on Friday, and they had a crowd.
There are a lot of 9-10 second ls1-ls6 head cars running 9-10's NA. Even with an IRS, like Rob's car.
Rob's 6 speed IRS car
The new cars 5.0's are welcomed, and long overdue. But, I guarantee you that many LSX guys are not shaking in their boots. They want the challenge. In the end, it's good for all of us.

I figure I got no change winning, but I just want to know. Anyone find a 1/4 mile time for the V6?

Please ask me how much my supercharger cost
too bad the v6 is always going to sound like **** and our lowly little 2v's will always sound like sex

After looking around a bit, I'm seeing V6 dyno numbers in the low 260's for HP and low 250's for TQ.
This is making me feel a little better about my 2V. It's pretty easy to hit 260rwhp or so with a few bolt-ons......and the huge torque difference should also help the 2V. No?

Sounds better than I had imagined. However, I still think the VQ35HR motors in the G35 and 350Z cars sound better
