Have about 7k on the car . . .using Mobil 1 Extended.

After the car has warmed up from just normal driving, I noticing a smell when coming to a stop similiar to burnt candle wax. It doesn't seem to be coming from the front of the car. It's not the rotten egg smell. Using Shell 93. I've checked the oil and water levels and they show no changes. Car runs strong.

Any ideas such as maybe the gas brand? that might be the problem. SHELL dealer says no change in the formula. I would think by this time any of the new exhaust or cats warmed up smell would be gone. I can deal with the smell . . . I just want to make sure it's not something that a start of a problem.

Any ideas??

I agree . . . but I know the smell of a clutch, brakes, underinflated tires and cats so I'm left with exhaust.

At next fillup, I change over on gas brands and see what comes up . . . .although that is a problem since SHELL has the town wrapped up and only one Exxon station exists some distance away.

Good luck man, hope you figure it out and that its nothing to worry about.
If its fuel related, maybe its just a bad batch at that gas station

Smell = Methnol at 10+ percent

Nuar-
Thanks for the good words but . . . . I stopped by the Ford dealer where I bought the car. I spoke with the tech who works on the car . . . this is a car guy who races a very modified GT500 plus two other bikes. He said he is finding and says he has gotten a confirm that the level of Methnol has been raised from the 10% in pump gas and his friends with the performance bikes are having problems especially with them running hot.

The SHELL dealer tells me his distributor says nothing has change as far as he knows. The tech said that BP and all the 7-11 are involved at this point and can't yet speak about other dealers at the moment.

So, FWIW.

A rotten egg smell sounds like the catalytic converter...and if you are running gas with a lot of alcohol in it, that would explain it, as that crap is hell on catalytic converters (among other things). Stop using that "gas" before you do damage. If you can find it in your area, try to use pure gasoline, or if not, 10% at the absolute max.

He said it is NOT the rotten egg smell.

I'd check to make sure nothing is resting on the exhaust. Sounds like melting plastic or something to that effect. Make sure nothing is resting on the headers and take a look underneath - maybe you ran over a plastic bag on the highway and it stuck to the exhaust.
