255 fuel pump noisey??

i just installed a summit 255lph intank fuel pump and it seems to be a bit louder than the stock pump is this normal?

Ya a little bit louder is normal. It is a much more powerful pump, so you will hear a little more noise from the pump.

If there's alot more noise than something might be wrong with the pump itself- but its probably fine.

huh. i have a 255 walbro but i cant hear it. maybe its becuase of my headers, o/r h pipe and flows

I have a walbro 255 and had 2 in the lightning but they are pretty loud. I also can only hear mine at idle as the exhaust drowns it out.

I am also concerned about noise when going to a 255 lph pump. I will probably be doing this swap in the next 6 months. Is there a brand that is quieter or fix for this problem?

unless you guys plan on runnin a blower, you dont need a 255 pump. And if you do get a blower, you shouldnt worry about any noise whatsoever because hopefully you will have a catless midpipe and you wont hear the pump. with that being said, just get the 190 fuel pump and be done with it. i cannot stress how easy it is to change out a fuel pump if you do get heavier mods at a later date. hell its only two easy bolts to drop the tank. so just get the 19o pump and be done wit it

Acually I just went with the 190 also, it delivers more than enough fuel.

When changing a fuel pump and dropping the tank there is the chance of the isolation rubber not sitting the same and the noise being transmitted through the car body. Sometimes the hoses touching the body can cause noise. I changed my fuel pump needlessly because I thought the pump was making excessive noise. I recently dropped the tank to drill holes for a battery box and when I got back together the noise was just about gone. Somehow I have everything sitting the right way now.

Yes...a little louder is normal. You should hear mine when I run it in conjunction with my Kenne Bell Boost-a-Pump.

I can't hear my walbro 255 high pressure in the car. It's a quiet high pitched whine when I'm outside the car right next to the gas tank.

that's exactly how mine sounded when I just put it in, after a year or two now it has a buzzz sound now
