Here is a picture of the car from mustang monthly and the excerpt from the article.

Jack Roush Ford Mustang Auto Collection 25Th Anniversary Mustang Photo 7
Jack Roush Ford Mustang Auto Collection 25Th Anniversary Mustang Photo 8

"For the Mustang's 25th anniversary, Ford asked us for a powertrain proposal for a 25th anniversary edition. We started with a marine 351 engine and added the marine camshaft and put fuel injection on it. We gave it back to Ford and they said the performance was improved over the 5.0-liter but it wasn't enough. At the same time, we were working on the Thunderbird Turbo Coupe with the small Borg-Warner turbocharger. So I hung two turbochargers on the 351, one on each exhaust manifold. Ford said it was irresponsible. It was so fast you couldn't keep it in your lane if you stepped on the gas. The result was that they did something that did not have a powertrain feature for the 25th anniversary. The only car that I think was done correctly is here in our museum. It's a one of a kind."

I had an arctilce on this car from Motor Trend from 1989 but lord only knows where that is now, probably buried in my parents basement somewhere.

Also I want to know what roush did to get the 351 under a stock appearing hood. I wonder if they messed with the K-member or just used a low rise intake system. If you notice the picture of the engine the intake does look pretty low profile, I would love to have this engine in my coupe.

Wow, Ford really went all out for that milestone.

Yeah, such a shame because Ford had a special model for 20th, 35th and 40th anniversary.

They didn't do anything for 45 either....just a fender badge.

Saleen sort of celebrated the 25th with the SSC.

It was an "unofficial" combination 25th anniversary Mustang/5 year anniversary car for Saleen.

They had planned to make 250 SSC's. But ran out of year and stopped production at 161.

It was the baddest production Mustang for '89 rated at 292 hp.

Mine makes just a littttle bit more. LOL

The Roush one-off lent it's styling cues to the '93 Cobra.

The '91-'93 SAAC MK I/II Mustang had GT-40 packages made by Ford Motorsport (now FRPP), that eventually made their way into the '93+ Cobra. The very first GT-40 heads had a F1ZE casting number (1991). They were originally engineered for the ('91) SAAC engine.

I know I'm a bit late to the party, but I know the owner of stang nation as he is local to me. There were some things that went on in the NW section of this forum that caused some un named mod to block it. We've never understood why as it contradicts stangnets vision and we have challenged it to no avail.

Bit of a sore spot for me, and lost this site dozens of members. Whatevs.

All mustangs made from April 17th 1989 to April 17, 1990 got the little "25 years" dash plaque. After April of 1990, the plaque was left blank but remained.

Ford never did a thing to make an actual anniversary car. Anything out there was a dealer package or something put together by aftermarket companies, like the saleen ssc car was.

Nothing special about a 25 years car other than the $15 dash emblem. There are no anniversary cars. All the emblem says is "25 years"....nothing else

The gas door release was an 87-89 feature that disappeared on the 1990 models

Yeah my convertible is an 89 but doesn't have the plaque on the dash. Maybe it was produced earlier in 89. I'll have to look at the sticker on the door...

Most don't have it. 1989 model year production started in sept 1988 and ended around June or July 1989 I think. The little dash emblem only went on from April to June/July.

Around the same time, ford started putting 140mph speedos in the v8, but the speedo and dash emblem are not related in terms of when they appeared, but around the same time. Not sure which was first.

So no dash emblem, and 85 mph speedo is good sign of early 1989 gt

I had an April of 90 Fox with the 25 years emblem... If it had the Roush package that Ford should have done, I'd damn sure still have that car!!

What do you guys think. I just got my hands on an 1989 GT, but was built late 88. So there's no badge on the dash. But the OG owner had a plaque in the bag that he gave me and had said it was a 25th anniversary. I saw the registration afterwords and saw build date so I'm not sure about installing the 25th anniversary badge even though I have it. What do you guys think?

There is no 25th anniversary from ford.....so anything you have could have been from the dealership, or aftermarket.

No premium over any other fox mustang

The reason is that a certain member there doesn't know when to STFU and would go on and on and on and on and on about it.
