My Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3s have arrived (4 x 275/40R18s) before my 18" AFS Mach 1 wheels. After placing one of the tires next to the stock front tire, I'm getting nervous about fitment. Anyone stuck this tire size up front? Any problems? There's plenty of room in the back but the front just looks a bit cramped...

with tires that wide in the front you will have tracking problems. Your car will pull to every rut in the road. Then you may have turn clearance problems..

265 is the widest i have seen. But i know 245 is the standard wide width for the fronts

Not an 05 (97 actually), but I have 275's in the front 315's in the back. I love how the car sits and rides. I dont mind the very occasional pull, the tires wear well and the car is pretty stable going straight... No issues really. I dont know how mugh tighter the front well of the 05's are. Just my experience so far. Let me know how they work out. I love the wide tire look...

I have 275/35-19 BFG KDW tires in the front of my '06 on a 9" rim. Works fine, and doesn't tramline much at all.

Very nice looking wheels and tires. Really my favorite looking stance on these cars. Just beautiful...

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Heres a site that you can play around with to see what tire size differences are like. It will also tee you how far off your speedo will be with an old vs new tires.

Gorgeous wheels...

Do you have the specs for them front and rear - Width and offset?

How about rubbing on the front when turning and going up a driveway (bump) - any issues?

Thanks!

Hmmm, my fronts have a 40mm offset. That may be a problem--we'll see.

No, I have the same setup as you - I saw your wheels long before I got my car. Your car, along with that yellow and black one and srichards car put me over the edge. Looks great!

I'm taking all this in to see how relevent the data would be to a wheel combination I would like to use.

I've got a set of chrome 17x9 SVT Mach-I wheels that I have been using on my Cobra and thinking about trying them on the Mustang. They are a 26mm offset (SN95) and have 275-40's on them now. Good looking wheel and I hope they fit this Mustang as they are too pretty for my racecar.
To my line of thinking - they would stick out no further than the 10" wide wheel would on the rear and maybe just a little more (1/2") on the front. For that combination I may have to switch to 255's on the front..

Thoughts?

275/40-17 is about 1.5" shorter than the '05-'06 factory rolling stock. There is already one guy running them with no problems, but I chose to stick closer to the new diameter for more road cushion, so to speak. I would think your offset would be close enough to work, and it has probably been done already somewhere.

Hmmm... Something to think about. When you mentioned that the 275/40 was 1.5" shorter than the 235/55 - that made me realize that the taller 235 tire had a heckuva time filling the rear wheel wells the way it is without lowering the car (something I really don't want to do)..

I need to come up with another tire strategy.

Thanks for the feedback!
