I just got my new '04 GT 5-speed. I have been thinking of keeping the engine/exhaust stock and focusing on making everything else work 'better' at the track. I will probably be getting either the Eibach or Laurel Mountain Mustang drag spring kit and other suspension goodies. I would run either 275/50-15 BFG or M/T D/Rs or maybe some 26" ET Streets on 15x8 Telstars.

With a stock-engine combo, would 4.30s be a good choice? I did some calculating and it seems that 4.30s, with a 26" tire, would put me at around 5600rpm trapping at 99-100mph, which is what I figure my trap speed would be. Would this put me out of the powerband in 4th, and would 4.10s be a better choice? I have the 0.62 5th gear, so I would only be spinning at 2500rpm at 72mph on the freeway.

Anyway, who has 4.30s in a 2v car? I did a search and came up with lots of 4v guys with them...

I think it will be fun seeing how quick the car can go with a stock motor!

Thanks,
Kris

4.30 are great. also if you don't want to modify the engine, get a short throw shifter (a must) and remove the front swaybar for less weight. LCA's will do good for you too.

sounds cool, my vert went 13.6@99 with only 4.10s, flowmasters, and et streets at 3625 race weight back when I first go it with only a 1.85 60'(only 3 passes with that setup). It probably would have gone 13.4 or so with a bit better 60' and a little weight reduction. I would go 4.30 if I started over again FWIW

Thanks again, guys.

Maybe this is a good question: Has anybody installed 4.30s and regretted it or switched back to less gear (without a power adder)?
