OK so after doing most of the bolt on mods I may be thinking gears. Would going to 3.73 make a noticable difference?? Would 4.10 be too much? This is my DD and I sometimes have to drive about 45 miles on the freeway for work. I dont want to be winding 'er up n getting crappy mileage.

Some will say 4.10's... but for a DD, driving 45 miles on the freeway i'd stick with 3.73's there a happy medium of 3.55 & 4.10 and higher. I'm going with 4.10's on the mach, but I don't drive it that much everyday. I drive about 10 miles a day... if that

You didn't say whether you're auto or 5 speed. It makes a difference.

In any case, do a search. If you read every thread people have started asking that question, it would take you probably an entire day to go through them all, but you'll get your answer.

with stock tire hieght

3.27@73 2100
3.73@76 2500
4.10@75 2700

3.27@84 2400
3.73@85 2800
4.10@85 3100

so basically drive in 4th gear around 3k and see if cruising ther bothers you. then drive at 2700 or so see if that bothers you.

hwy gas milage will get worse as you step the gear up. so you will get worse milage with 4.10's.

Seems that the majority of people on Stangnet say go with 4:10's.

that is because they will be faster. 4.10's are better for the quarter mile unless you can trap faster than 112 with stock limiter in place.

on the flip side though if you comute alot the milage hit may make you not like 4.10's or trap much over 112 you would not want 4.10's unless you raised the engies rpm band. then you would need to mess with your limiter or tire size so you don't have to shift to 5th in the 1/4 mile.

3.55s wont give you much difference. I got 3.73s and dropped 3 tenths offa my 1/4 mile time. I get 23mpg on tha hwy and 19 in town. I raced it 14 times the other day at the track and the rest was all in town driving and i got 17 mpg.

why not 4.56's? nothin wrong with a steep ass gear haha j/k.. if ur doin highway driving, i'd stick with 3.73's.. but if it's mainly city, then don't fear the gear and i'd go with 4.10's

Here at Stangnet, our motto is "We Fear No Gear".

Well maybe me since I've had 4.10s sitting in my house since June waiting to be installed.

Also depends on what your plans on for the future of the car.. if you are thinking of doing a Kenne Bell, or twin turbo, I'd stick with 3.73's. If you're thinking centrifugal, or just NA, stick with 4.10's.

there is something different in you setup then. 1:1 with 25.5 tire at 6k is 112mph.
102 is 5500rpm

t-45, t-5, t-3650, t-56 all have 1:1 4th gear so you tranny has nothing to do with the 102mph.
