I understand that 4.10 gears will get me out of the hole faster, but how much of a difference am I really looking at as opposed to 3.73s
Wouldn't the 3.73s already be a huge improvment over the stock gears? How bad will the gears effect the gas mileage? Will they void any factory warranties?

<------ see my avatar.. search for the word "gear"

Not to be rude but I'll provide you some quick old repeated answers

For mileage issue.. some people said that they get better mileage with 4.10.. with 3.73 you won't lose any.. or not much at all

For the warranty.. if you don't say anything.. then they won't know..

Most people also say that they don't want to cruise on highway at 3000 rpm at 85 mph.. The difference between 3.73 and 4.10 is about 300 rpms I believe.

I have 4.10 and have no complaints or regrets. I cruise 75 on highway at 2400 rpm and 65 at 2100 rpm

Yeah for each jump say from stock to 3.55 or from 3.73 to 4.10 add about 250-300 rpm to whatever your tach is at at a given mph as stated above.

I just dont see how after driving with 3.73's and then jumping in a car with 4.10's that someone can feel such a HUGE difference, but if you say so.

Also if you plan on staying NA, 4.10s could be a way to go. If your an auto, 4.10s are the way to go plain and simple. You will need that extra umph to get up and going. If you plan on adding a s/c go with 3.73's. You will more than likely run out of 4th gear at a 1/4 mile track if you have a s/c and 4.10s from what Ive heard.

I know my 3.73's suite me fine for my daily driving. I have no regrets as to my gear purchase. lol I did not fear the gear, I got was would apply to my driving needs/habits.

The only gripe I have is that I actually feel I run out of 1st way to soon with the 3.73's  2nd and 3rd hangs in there good, 4th is nice, and 5th is well... 5th.

Got both 4.10s and 3.73s and honestly feel that, for a daily driver, the 3.73s are better. If you have an auto, then I'd go 4.10s. If you head to the track once a month and run drag radials, 4.10s. With the 3.73s I can finesse the throttle and barely spin...then I am gone.

This debate has been going on for years. In my opinion(as well as many others) anything less than 4.10 gears in a n/a GT that sees track time is a waste. There are many guys with both auto and 5spd GT's that are using 4.30 gears. In Cobras, 4.56 gears. They all also report a possible loss in gas mileage. Not mainly due to increased cruising rpms, but mainly due to the fact your so tempted to "slam the gas" with the new gears. Basically, you wont loose much gas mileage if you keep your speeds down on the interstate and dont floor it all the time.

I run 4.30's with a 150 shot. Runs great on the 1/8th mile 7.55 @ 93mph but redlines on the 1/4th in 4th gear about 50 ft before the line 12.10 @ 109. You'll lose a little top end but who cares if you can pull stong to 110mph Fun on the street but ****ty on the highway. Go with the 4.10s you'll love grabbing the hole shots. 1st goes quick but pulls like a big dog in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.It is also a good gear for the track. :nice:
