Just bought a bit of stuff from latemodel tonight. main thing was a FRPP 3:73 gearset and master bearing kit.
also grabbed some engine dressup stuff, interior billet stuff, new egr valve, act sensor, coolant temp sensor, weatherstrip kit, trac-lok rebuild kit, new door handles and some other small stuff. i'm sure nobody really cares, but i'm excited! i love getting new parts!

just a few questions. the master bearing install kit comes with: (pinion & carrier bearings, pinion seal, ring gear bolts, pinion nut, crush sleeve, shims, and marking compound) 1 bottle of Friction Modifier 2 bottles of Royal Purple 75W90 gear oil
- is all this stuff necessary? i've see install kits with less, for less money. if gears will be installed by a pro, did i really need everything?

also, what kind of difference will a 2:73 to 3:73 swap make in 1/4 mile times? for a slightly modded 5.0 like mine?

yeah about $750, and i won't really have anything to show for it. i live in canada so i only make a few, larger orders when i need something to save on shipping.

- its all because somebody broke one of my door handles this week. so i figure i'd order it from the states because its much cheaper. then i get browsing and click click click, you get a $750 checkout for a $20 part you needed.

Well now i'm got the entire motor riped apart and i'm pulling the engine and tranny and completely redoing it! H/C/I. Just cause i put in a god damn radiator. Oh well. Should be fast now! I'll post up a thread with pics tomorrow. Should be interesting.!

I would just put the gears in yourself, if you have decent mechanical skills and access to dial indicators and calipers it isn't that hard to do. The hardest part is compressing the crush sleeve while laying on your back in the driveway lol.

yeah i know. i've had a long learning curve with my stang done so much wrong in the past.... still learning, mostly from you guys. i keep hearing 2 stories about the gear install being fairly easy, and being something that even quite competent mechanics won't attempt. but i do want to do as much work on my car as i can. can this be done with basic tools, ( i don't have calipers/micrometers or whatever weird things i might need) fairly simply? is it worth it to buy the tools and attempt it myself? i'm expecting to pay about $400 (lowest quote, up to $900 from Ford) for the gear install only. but i also have the master bearing kit, (which looks complicated), speedo gear change, and a trac-lok rebuild to do all at the same time. how many hours labour would a shop charge for each of these, if done all at the same time? i dont really need prices, since i live in canada, and it is very difficult to convert what u guys pay to what specialty shops charge here....
oh - some pics of the stuff i gets!

i've never heard of yukon... is it any good? i thought i was getting all FRPP stuff when i ordered the master install kit!
