3.8 to 5.0

You'll need a donor car for parts, Ford changed around a lot of the wiring inside the cars in 1996, so you'll have to take more than the motor and transmission. I have never owned a 1996 3.8 Stang, so I cannot tell you what's different and exactly what to swap. If you can get a 1994 or 1995 3.8, the swap is relatively easy. Check out the link in my signature for my 1994 3.8 to Cobra 5.0 swap.

you will need a k-member from a 94/95 mustang, and engine harness from 94/95 gt, i also think you will need the body harness from a 94/95 gt. then a complete drive line from a 94/95 gt, if your going carb then all you will need is a k memeber from a 94/95

i thought the motor mounts for the V6 were the same as they are for the 5.0 ... no?

or is that only the 94/95 V6s?

bigponi, are you going carb?

As I understand it, the 94-98 V6 engines are the same and use the same mounting locations as the 86-95 5.0. So his k-member should be just fine. What I'm not sure of is the dash and body wiring. I know Ford made some changes to the wiring to save some $$$$, but I don't know if the changes were just to the 4.6 chassis or to the 3.8 as well.

no your wrong, just 94/95 had the same k member. once they went with the 4.6 in 96 the motor mounts also changed for the 3.8

I know the engine block is the same, so I presumed that Ford would keep the same k-member and motor mounts. A bit of research online tells me that Ford did switch the k-member in 96, and created new motor mounts for the existing 3.8 V6 to fit the new k-member. *shrug* I presumed poorly, then.
