I was in between 3.73s and 4.10s and happen to notice 3.90s are available, from reading all the past posts this seems like a good gear set for my 2008 GT 5 speed. Just wondering if anyone has any input, thanks!

Most people shy away from 3.90 gears for the simple reason FRPP doesn't offer that ratio and most feel they want to stay with FRPP gears. They have the reputation of being the best , quietest gears. The FRPP 4.10 gears seem to be the most popular followed by 3.73.

Pro 5.0 makes 3.90 gears and I have never heard anything bad about their gears. They were supposed to be lighter and stronger. I know that Mustang and Fast Fords magazine used them in one of their project cars, but who knows maybe Pro 5.0 helped sponsor the build. The company usually has a pretty good rep.

From what I have read on other forums, motive makes the Pro 5.0 gears. People have been experiencing whine with these gears as well. I would just get FRPP 4.10s as the RPMs won't be much higher than 3.90s and MPG will not be that much if any worse.

x2 ................. From everything I've read/heard, this gear ratio is generally noisy - wether motive is the maker of all of those I do not know. 4.10 ftw!

There's a guy that also lives on Maui that goes by "Gils Maui Pony". I saw his posts on Mustang Forums. He recently had 4.10s installed. You might try touching base with him. I've been to Maui 6 or 7 times. I'm so freaking jealous of anybody that lives there. Aloha.
