what would be the best camshaft for 1600-5800 rpm i want to have lots of power at low rpms being that i am so heavy but i would also like to have a rilly lumpy idle so it sounds fast just idling

This is a Canadian thread so far;I'm from Brandon,MB.Low rpm power and a really lumpy idle usually don't go hand in hand.My Comp Cams 258 has a modest duration and 114 LCA (relatively wide) which gives it nice low end torque but also a smooth idle. It's operating range is roughly 1300-5300 rpm.A 264 grind might be more what you are looking for or even better get a custom grind.

Can you smell the back bacon frying??
Another Canucklehead from Vancouver here.
I want low rpm power as well.
From idle to 4000.
I am getting the Crane Powermax 2020.
It doesnt make any more power than the stock
cam overall but it brings the power down into the 1500-4000
rpm range I use in daily driving and trailer towing.
The dyno chart I read on it showed it boosting power
in that range by 30HP and 30ft/lb torque!
Doubt it will make that cool lumpy idle sound though.

By the way I was in Melfort last summer.
Got a Melfort pen from the visitors info caboose.
I actually like the prairies, just not this time of year!

A stock cam with ported stock heads,1.7 RR's and a GT-40 or Cobra intake will give you exactly what your looking for except for the lumpy idle. But you can make that up with a loud un-catted exhaust system

You could just turn that idle down to make it sound grumbly and agitated.

Get the Comp Cams XE270HR.....operating range of 1800-5800....pretty much exactly what you're looking for. I have that cam and I like it a lot.
