I won't have one for a while but i'm curious as to what some of you are making for horsepower and torque with no nitrous, blowers, or EFI. I will be updating my tired 6 one day to a rebuilt 302. If you could tell me what mods you have and the HP and TQ numbers. Thanks

i've got a pretty basic 302 in my 66 coupe, it's got edelbrock performer 289 manifold, holley 600, headers, twin 2 1/4" exhaust, later model 5.0 litre heads, mild cam and electronic ignition. I'm making 131.9kw at the rear wheels, which i think translates to about 171.5hp at the rear wheels. Here is a copy of my dyno sheet, hope it gives u some idea
I'm sure there are some better examples out there though!

Well most HO's, with the exception of a few make 225ish flywheel hp from the factory and can be put up to 300 with normal bolt ons including good heads and a range of 300-375 is not uncommon. There are exceptions, but much higher than that and your getting into labour intensive engine work. There are just guesstimates. I have read of some cars getting 400 with heads, headers, cam and real good intake, and not much else. This isn't happening to all 5.0's but it can happen. I hope to make mine in the 350-400 range sometime with torque being more important to me.

Wow, I am liking what I am hearing. Thanks for the input. Once I sees what engine I will be working with, I will set a HP goal and let you guys know how it turns out. Thanks again

from my second motor a crate 302 with gt40 steel heads and a b303 cam 246 rwhp and 311 # of torque

same rpm airgap, 750 dble pumper,& jba shorty headers but with a 331 motor , afr 185 heads, & custom cam 343rwhp & 321 # of torque it's just about right it makes me grin when it gets up around 5,000 rpm and pisses off everyone else around 6,500!
