306 long block from Indy Mustang

Anyone have any experience w/ Indymustang?

I'm curious because I'm considering getting their
306 Racing Engine, which includes:

Keith Black 116 pistons (.030)
clevite 77 rod, main and cam bearings,
crane blue racer (288/460) cam and lifters,
dynagear double roller timing chain,
oil pump with new pump drive,
seasoned reground crank,
bored and honed block
standard heads with new valve job.
("this is an excellent street engine on a budget.
about 320 horse ")
complete long block \\$1395
short block \\$1095 + shipping

Seems like a good deal, What do you guys think?

I have that engine with a little more radical cam and roller lifters.

After I ordered from them, I heard some pretty bad stories about their engines and how they are put together. Also, they take much longer than advertised to put an engine together.

I simply kept calling them every few days. My engine took about twice as long as they said to build, and the wood box it came in broke. However, the engine itself seemed to be put together well.

I've had it in my Mustang for 2 years now and haven't had any problems. It doesn't burn oil, and there is a good amount of power.

Perhaps I'm just one of the lucky few. Maybe you should think about a crate motor from Ford?

A search on Corral or other sites will bring up a lot of threads about Indy Mustang. I suggest you read them for what they are worth before you make a decision.

Just read those posts about Indymustang, scary stuff!
I think I'll pass on buying anything from them.

You guys know any good sources to get a short or long block 289 or 302 for without breaking the bank? Preferably a slightly higher performance than stock one, about 300 hp?

I used a factory 5.0 block (I got it for $800 from someone in MM&FF) and put my own heads, induction, etc. on it. I don't know what the output is but I'm sure its more than 300hp
