Looking for a 331 stroker kit, perferbly with...

Scat 9000 series or 4340 crank
forged H beam rods
Forged dished pistons ( Probe, SRP, JE, ect)
*need to be balanced*

(Either Scat or Eagle)

Ive been looking at AD performance, CHP, Central coast, DSS, ProPower, Wynnspeed..

From first hand experience, who would you recomend?
I'de like to keep it around $13-$1,400

Mike, go with CHP. Call and ask for Mark O'Neal. He is one hell of an engine builder and will give you just the right combo for your set up. I've never bought an engine from him but I have a buddy who has and said he is a hell of a guy. He called and spoke with DSS and Wynnespeed and both of them didn't want to offer any information, they just wanted him to buy something, then they would become a help. Mark helped him right from the get-go.

I've heard very good things about DSS racing, especially about the quality of their stuff. That is probably who I will be going to when my shortblock takes a crap on me.

I'd buy from Keith Craft. But thats because his shop is close to me and they opened a branch here in dallas. but they are supposed to be some badass motors

The only company I've heard stories from is DSS, they're located pretty close to my home. On two different occasions people have gotten engines with really crappy builds and the engines didn't last a hundred miles. A few people I know in Illinois won't buy from them. I'm sure every company has its problems now and then, just thought I'd share the information.

Wynnspeed has been out of business for 2 months. Stay clear of Central Coast, they have inferior motor internals. I've seen it first hand. DSS, Coast High, Bennett are OK.

well ive decided to just go directly through Scat. They are very helpfull folks, and have everything i need, except the low comp pistons ( JE) which he will get back to me on tomorow.

I have personally called CHP and spoke with George. I believe his last name is Glass. That guy talked with me well over an hour. I told him what I wanted to do with my stang and he gave me his opinion on what I needed. I asked about other high priced options and he said that I would be waisting money where it didn't need to be spent. He didn't try to sell me some big block stroker. Very nice guy and helpful. You ought to give them a call just to check them out. I've always read the treads that you put up and you seem to be an intelligent person, so you would probably have a pretty good conversation with these people. Good Luck.
