Does any one know any stroker kits that have taken care of the oil burning issue with the rist pin being pushed up higher. I have an eagle engine kit and I think it is already starting to burn oil after about 5000 miles. I am looking to get a set of rods and pistons. Thank you

Yes, some kits have pistons that don't have the rist pin intersecting the oil ring.
Coast High Performance has kits that use a 5.315" rod instead of 5.4" rod.

the 347 and any ties to oil burning should be obliviated!

good parts + good builder/machine work = a proper 347 w/no oil burning.

Well... most have been. If you're burning oil and you believe that it's the result of blow-by then you may want to consider upgrading the rings instead of swapping out the pistons and rods. Drop Rick91GT a line for a good recommendation on which rings to get.

Yeah I keep seeing more and more oil burning at 5-10-15k on these 347's and some (I will not mention) have some reputable builders and it burns oil Bad thing is, is that I'm considering a stroker sometime in the nearer future How are the Ford 347 shortblocks reliability wise? Anybody have'em?

Remember that post a few weeks back when people claimed oil burning was "old school" thought and no one experiences it anymore because everyone is using the good sheet now ...

Another case in reality ... no longer theory

And to the original poster, CHP rods with the accompanying Probe pistons, like someone above said ....

Sorry you have to be another dude to help drive home my point

If the pin bore does not intersect the oil ring groove, the motor should not burn oil as a result of blowby. Assuming the rings are correctly installed and fit properly, complete ring to cylinder wall seal is achieved. There are other issues responsible if blowby is present. My Mahle pistons have a longer skirt design and the pin bore does not intersect the oil ring groove, like other designs.

Scott, the FRPP 347 (regardless of top end components for output) has a 5.400" rod length, which results in the wrist pin intersecting the oil control ring land.

The engine will be a kick in the pants compared to stock or mediocre stuff , but it will consume more oil than a 302 or other kits. Since you've already made your purchase there is no turning back now, push on .. A lot of the 5.400" rod 347's don't consume dramatically more oil.

May the force be with you.

Are you running the 5.400" or 5.315" rods?

(Every car I've ever owned, even new, burned "a little" oil.)
