350 rwhp NA from a 96 2v?

........oh ya, one more thing I'm seeing, is that big cubed modulars are lacking an intake manifold. Even the bullitt (non ported) is choking down power. I can't wait for Ron @ FoxLake to release his P51.....I'm confident it will make great power on a bigger inch modular!

Pump gas our engine made 375/385 on our engine dyno, using 11:1 c/r, streetable stage2 heads and cams, and a stock bullitt intake. This would be easily over 400/400 with more head work and camshaft. Even if we added race gas and tossed in some more timing we could've likely gotten close. It can be done, I'd personally use a 324 because you'll get the added cubes for torque AND the bigger bore for top end Hp.

Uhhhhhhhh, read your post again!

What would I have to do to my 1996 2V to get 350 rwhp out of it? I want to stay N/A and I don't want to use NOS either.

Any ideas?

Says NOTHING about keeping it 4.6L. Sorry, trying to give you some proven advice. Just because it's a stroked or big bored 4.6L into a 5L or 5.3L, doesn't take away from it still being 4.6L based (as apposed to going to the physically larger 5.4L engine) When I say 5.0, I'm not talking about the pushrod engine.

If you are talking about a 4.6 stroked to 5.0, then you are absolutely on topic, and I apologize. When I saw the 5.0, I concluded you were referring to a 5.0 pushrod, not a stroked 4.6.

It would be easier and cheaper to get 350 RWHP out of a 4v. A mach 1 with ported heads and cams should be able to get there.

I dont know if anyone else has the Feb 2004 issue of 5.0 mustang and super fords. They have a complete dyno test of just about all 4.6 N/A bolt ons. Here is a list of things they did to the car.

K&N
No Silencer
After Cat
X Pipe
Pulleys
Mass Air
Power Pipe
Throttle Body
Intake Elbow
Headers
They tried all 3 intakes(Bullit Reichard Stock)
Stage 3 heads
Iginition
Stage 2 cams
D.S.S. NON-stroker shortblock

In the end they would up with a D.S.S. 4.6 forged engine with the stage 3 heads stage 2 cams and stock intake. They achieved 336.1 rear wheel Horsepower at 6000 RPM. Rear wheel Torque was 336.8 at 4750 RPM. Thats only 14 horsepower shy of the 350 mark this guy wants. It seems like a stroker might get him to the level he wants. The extra 21 cubes a stroker gives would help some. If the 281 is making 336 horsepower that equals 1.19 horsepower per cubic inch. Add the 21 extra cubes from a 302 stroker, 21X1.19=24.99 possible extra horsepower. I think he could at least get the 14 he needs for 350.

I know you said you wanted to make 350 RWHP, but maybe a better question would be what times would you like to run at the track? I am assuming you want to make that much horse to run a certain time at the track. I know of a 2V car at Anderson Motorsport in Illinois that runs 11.94 in the quarter.

Go to the Anderson Ford webpage http://www.andersonfordmotorsport.com/ and look under Project Vehicles. The first vehicle is a 2V 2000 GT, right under the first pic of the car in the black box there is a yellow link labeled "here". Click on this link and it will show you the exact combo they are running and the car's dyno.

It makes 322.21 HP and 321.49 TQ. Not sure how fast you wanna run but 11.94 is pretty damn quick. Like you I am also obsessed in wanting to build a N/A motor. I have a 98 GT bone stock, until I graduate this summer. MUWAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHH!!!!!

If I had 350 rwhp, I might run it at the track a few times to see what it could do, but it is for my daily driver. I am asking about 350 for the 4.6 because I am trying to decide if I should rebuild my current motor, or swap in a 5.4 DOHC engine, which can make 350 fairly easily. I realize there are other issues with a SOHC->DOHC swap and I have read the "5.4 bible", but I am still unsure if that is the best option for me or if maximizing my current engine's potential is the way for me.

I am starting to think that the 5.4 swap will result in a more reliable setup, because I would not be squeezing every last ounce of power out of it.

If I go the 4v route, I will go the 5.4 4V route. Pretty much the same issues, with the addition of the intake, and the result is more potential.
