I just wonder if it is worth the $400 swap for my planned combo? I plan on a 351 with the 64cc Y303 heads and a KB. I dont plan to rev over 5400 rpm. It will be for a weekend cruiser. Let me know your thoughts.
Personally imo no, you're adding more cubes but are using 'restrictive' parts (y303 heads) so you're not really using the extra cubes and not taking over 5400rpm's. .02
Building a 351 using 302 parts (to me) is some what down grading a 351. But if money is not a issue than by all mean 351 it is. Y303 heads are better than stock on a 302 but on a 351 I would look into something better for hp purposes, again this is just my opinion take it for what it's worth to you.
No, I appreciate your opinion. I just found a great deal on a flat tappet longblock, and I thought "what the hell". I was just gonna throw it together with what I have currently, but if it isnt worth doing, then it isnt worth doing. I wont fault you for saving me money.lol I wonder it Thumper could work some majic on the new 351 heads it comes with, or are they just E7's also? The motor is an 84/85 truck 351.
I would find out what the stock heads of that 351 flow. Seeing as how they came from a truck they are not geared for hp. Now if you plan on working the 303's then it may be worth the $$ to do. See what thumper or tmoss can do for you as far as making the 303's flow. I was under the impressing you weren't going to modify the heads just slap them on.
