I am still getting slightly low voltage and when I "key on" but not start the car the volt gauge shows a waaaay low charge. Then of course the entire dimming dash lights as I drive and use the turn signal.

I also noticed that the voltage reads higher at first but as I drive it gets lower and my dash lights do appear dimmer.

My battery is 3 years old, just a Pep Boys one. I have the new 3G alt in there....what else might be the issue? Sounds like my charging is not happening all that great? Do I just need to go get a new battery?

Getting some readings with a DMM would be useful.
Was the wiring upgrade performed for the 3G alt, including the motor ground?

Do you run U/D pulleys?

How is the output when the engine is at over 1000 RPM?
A parts store can load test the components, if you want to have that done.

Good luck.

Try having the charging system tested and stop guessing.

Good luck!

Yeah complete wire upgrade was done. I guess I need to take it someplace and have a charging test done then. Unless there are other components I can swap out.

You would need to first get your meter out and check values before swapping parts out. Absent more info from you, there is not much we can recommend.

Good luck.
