I have heard both would work well with my car (96GT auto and daily driver) I was looking for opinions on which to buy. Which is the best brand. And best website to buy them. Thanks for the hep as always.

If you have an auto, with no doubt get 4.10 gearing.

Get the Ford Racing gears. Go with the 4.10s if you dont do too much highway driving. With the auto you will have to get a chip or an ECU reflash to correct the speedo. You can get them from any website, just search and you can find them for cheap. mustangtuning.com usually has good prices.

Go 3.73 with hwy driving like you said, I have them and love them. Personally 4.10 seem a bit much for me, but I also dont street race so I couldnt justify getting the 4.10s when I only race at the track. IMO 3.73

All depends on what your goal is for the car. There is no right or wrong gear. The right gear will satisfy what your goal is. Go to the track every weekend = 4.10. Fun car to drive on a daily basis 3.55, 3.73.

I have 4.10's and my buddy has 3.73's and we both love them as we both have different driving habits. If you go with 3.73's you can use a 21 tooth speedo gear fix your speedo. Go with Ford gears.

Gears- www.stangstore.com - I got mine for $150 incl. shipping
Speedo Gear- D00Z-00017271 - $7.99 TMP

I have 4.10's on my daily driver, do tons of highway driving and only lost 1.5 mpg form my stock 2.73 gears.

what the guy said about 3.73 for tack racing and 4.10 for street is absolute bunk, 4.10's will help more on the track where there is a defined finish line and if you race from say, a 40 roll or 60roll on the street you have to go into 5th geat at 110mph 4th in 3.73 is around 120. not that i would know ANYTHING about racing on the street.

unless you are spraying or running boost in the future, get the 4.10's

3.73's work perfect for all my hw/city driving. Im a 5 speed though. Since your an auto, a 98 especially I would go with 4.10s in your case. I might even think 4.30's but you do a lot of hw so 4.10s would probably be perfect for you

SEARCH. There's a gear thread every day. Then I see two at the same time.

4.10's or 4.30's, I don't want to hear otherwise. Anyone pulling that 3.73's and "power adder in the future" crap........I want to see either the blower sitting in your garage or the receipt for a downpayment on one.

Do you have a programmer? You'll need to do something with your computer to adjust the shift points for the transmission.

'00 GT Auto and loving 3.73's

I do 90% highway driving, and love the cruising sound of the car at like 2500 rpm doing 60-70..

If I were to get gears tomorrow tho, honestly I might get 4.10's; the car came with the 3.73's so I figure leave well enough alone for now.
