4.6 axle ID

Hi!
Could anybody tell me, what the axle tag numbers read?
S225C 3L08.88 6C13.
I figured so far a 8.8 built on March 13, 1996.
Is it a 28 or 31 spline? It's all original an I have to change the diff to get rid of the annoying clunk at shift or I get crazy!
Help is sure appreciated.

8.8 wth a "posi" 3.08 gear, nothing in the axle code will tell you if it 28 or 31 spline, all Gt's have 28 spline form the factory

3.08 ratio. L is locker. 88 is 8.8. The other numbers are just Ford ID numbers. They don't matter on the stang...

Thanks a lot for the help guys! Have to change the differential, I think. That clunking sound shifting from reverse/park in first just drives me crazy...
Any other idea what that could be?

Check your U joints. That is usually clunking from changing directions. Rear ends usually make a growling or howling noise.
